We Made TikTok’s Famous Creamy Ramen Recipe, and Now We Know Why People Love It
This recipe for creamy ramen noodles calls for four ingredients and takes only 10 minutes to put together.
If you’re a ramen lover like myself, you know that there are two immediate draws to the noodle dish. Not only is it a quick go-to for when you’re in a rush, but also there are so many different ways to customize it. If you’re looking for a new way to eat ramen, you might want to put a new trend, creamy ramen, at the top of your list.
TikTok user @teekeatz posted a ramen hack using simple ingredients to pull off a super creamy ramen dish, reminiscent of carbonara pasta. The hack doesn’t include the typical Parmesan cheese or lemon zest that’s in carbonara, but it definitely achieves a creamy consistency. With more than 7 million views, I knew I had to make creamy ramen for myself, and so did the @tasteofhome Test Kitchen!

How to Make Creamy Ramen

This quick and easy recipe starts with a package of ramen, an egg, a clove of garlic and mayonnaise. And the best part? You’ll have a bowl of creamy, warm ramen to serve as the perfect comfort food in a matter of minutes.
- 1 package instant ramen, any flavor
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 garlic clove
In the original TikTok, video the creator uses Japanese Kewpie mayo. But regular or lite mayo work just as fine!
Step 1: Cook the noodles
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil on the stove as directed on the package. Once the water is boiling, add in your ramen noodles and cook according to package directions. I used Maruchan chicken-flavored ramen, but you can try it with any flavor!
Step 2: Prep the sauce
While the noodles are cooking, add the egg and mayonnaise into a bowl. Grate the clove of garlic on top, and then whisk together until well combined.
Step 3: Mix the noodles and sauce
Once the noodles are cooked, pour the boiling water from the pot into your bowl and whisk. Then, add in the noodles and stir. Looking for more recipes? Learn how to make vegan ramen and chicken ramen.
Creamy Ramen Review
Molly Allen for Taste of Home
Truth be told, I was skeptical about adding mayonnaise and a raw egg to a bowl, but the boiling water from the noodles is hot enough that it actually cooks the egg. Thank goodness!
The grated garlic gives this ramen unbelievable, fragrant flavor. It’s a must-try for garlic lovers. The mayonnaise and egg combination results in an incredibly creamy sauce, rather than a watery soup base. Garnish the ramen with chopped scallions if desired. Don’t want the creamy texture? Creamy Ramen Tips
If I made this again, I would add other ingredients to the mix. Incorporating sauteed vegetables or mixing in crispy tofu or chicken would make creamy ramen even better.
You can also try other types of ramen noodles. If you want more richness, a cheese ramen could work. Or for a kick, spicy ramen!
