The Sneaky Truth Inside the Costco Halloween Candy Bag

Updated: Oct. 21, 2022

What kind of mystery spread will you get this year?

If you haven’t already, it’s time to jump on the Halloween candy train. Every store you can think of probably has shelves and shelves of the sweet stuff just waiting for you to pick out the perfect bag for your trick-or-treaters—and there are so many delicious new candies to choose from this year. While some might vouch for the fruity Starburst and Skittles, chocolate always manages to reign supreme during the spooky season.

But the Costco 150-piece Halloween candy bag hails above all else when it comes to you chocolate connoisseurs out there. What’s the most exciting part, you ask? Searching through all the goodies inside.

What’s In Costco’s Halloween Candy Bag?

Each bag includes a mix of Snickers, 100 Grand, Peanut M&M’s, York Peppermint Patties, Twix, M&M’s, Almond Joy, Kit Kat, Milky Way and Reese’s.

Reddit user @margosmango took it upon themselves to count out each and every candy from their Costco Halloween bag this year. According to a comment they made further down the post, “As per Halloween tradition, I headed to my local Costco in Queens to pick up this Kirkland Signature bag of 150 pieces of chocolate for $18.49. Here’s how 149 pieces were distributed (my boyfriend ate one 100 Grand before I sorted.)”

There Were Some Surprises

Here was the official tally of candy:

  • Snickers (28)
  • 100 Grand (24)
  • Peanut M&M’s (22)
  • York Patties (15)
  • Twix (13)
  • M&M’s (12)
  • Almond Joy (11)
  • Kit Kats (10)
  • Milky Way (9)
  • Reese’s (5)

One of the highest points of contention was the ratio of Snickers to Reese’s. As we learned from our map of the most popular candy in every state, Reese’s is hands down the most popular candy across the board. Many were outraged that the bag featured such a small amount of the beloved candy. On the flip side, others pointed out that there were far too many Snickers included. I must personally disagree—Snickers wouldn’t last long at all in my house.

While others pointed out the inequalities between the amounts of different candies, we still think 150 pieces for $18.49 is a total steal. It’s time we let everyone know about this incredible chocolate Costco secret.
