Small Slow Cookers Perfect for Two

Smaller slow cookers are handy appliances that are perfectly suited for preparing downsized recipes.

Smaller slow cookers are handy appliances that are perfectly suited for preparing downsized recipes. A small-yield slow cooker makes just the right amount for two. It’s true! Slow cookers are no longer just for preparing family-sized soups or pot roasts.

Small-sized versions are available…and they have all the advantages of the larger models. You can easily prepare a one-pot stew, chili, soup or side dish and let it simmer all day while you’re away. And with the removable stoneware crock, cleanup is a breeze. Our Test Kitchen home economists used a 1-1/2-Quart Slow Cooker to test recipes with mouth-watering results.

Slow Cooker Tips

For best results, follow these slow cooker suggestions:

  • To cook food safely, the USDA recommends that slow cookers be filled at least half full but no more than two-thirds full.
  • Refrain from lifting the lid while food is cooking unless the recipe instructs you to stir. Loss of steam when the lid is raised will add to the cooking time.
