It can't get more Australian than this.
Chris Hemsworth’s Favorite Sandwich Contains Just 2 Ingredients
Chris Hemsworth is one of those unique actors who can give their all in an action movie, then turn around and have great comedic chemistry with just about anyone. It makes his role of Thor in Marvel’s Avengers franchise all the more enjoyable to watch.
Frankly, I’m hoping for more comedy roles in the future. I mean, he absolutely crushes it whenever he hosts Saturday Night Live, and I think about his performance in the Ghostbusters reboot all the time. But for now, I can get my Hemsworth fix with his latest thriller, Crime 101.
As always, my curiosity for what the stars eat was piqued. So I was happy to find out that Chris recently revealed his all-time favorite sandwich. And it’s made with only two ingredients—what an economical choice!
What is Chris Hemsworth’s favorite sandwich?
@plantbasednewsChris Hemsworth’s favorite sandwich is Vegemite and avocado… When Chris Hemsworth was filming Avengers: Infinity War, which was released in 2018, he experimented with a plant-based diet, according to his trainer Luke Zocchi. Zocchi told Today Extra: “It was a big experiment. We tried to see if he could keep all his muscle being vegan. It actually surprised me as well, because we’re all in this mentality of ‘gotta eat animal protein, protein, protein.’ But you can get a lot of protein from beans.” Are you a lover or a hater or Vegemite and Marmite? On an episode of Late Night with Stephen Colbert, Colbert asked Chris this exact question. After thinking about it for a few seconds, he said, “Vegemite and avocado.” Of course, Stephen Colbert quipped, asking him if he is legally obligated to name-check Vegemite as an Australian.
If you’re not familiar with Vegemite, it’s a totally unique condiment. Vegemite is a thick, dark-brown spread made with brewer’s yeast extract, and it’s often used to add a depth of saltiness and umami to sandwiches. It’s also a popular topping for toast in Australia and New Zealand. But according to Chris Hemsworth, the New Zealand kind isn’t as good as the Australian kind!
I actually had an Australian coworker at a previous job who brought Vegemite into the office and insisted that we all try some. A little goes a long way. It’s super strong and very flavorful, so I can see how it would pair well with the light, fatty texture and flavor of an avocado. Put it all together on some toasted whole grain wheat bread, and it definitely sounds like a delightful lunch option!
