After a busy week, the last thing I want to do is head to the grocery store. Between making a list, wrangling my reusable shopping bags and dealing with the weekend crowds, it’s a pretty chaotic experience. Luckily, there’s an easier way.
Say hello to Chicory.
Wait—What Is Chicory?
This smart plug-in adds ingredients for a Taste of Home recipe directly to your digital shopping cart. All you have to do is check out and wait for your order to be ready for curbside pickup or delivery. Pretty cool, right? It saves you precious time and cuts down on those impulse purchases.
How to Use Chicory on Taste of Home
It’s so simple! Here’s how Chicory works:
Step 1: Find a recipe
Pick out a recipe that you’re eager to make. Choose from easy dinners, five-star desserts and brand-new recipes. Any dish is fair game!
Step 2: Click “Buy Ingredients”
Once you’ve made your recipe selection (I was in the mood for our Best Ever Banana Bread) scroll down to the ingredients list and click the “Buy Ingredients” button.
Step 3: Pick your favorite store
Then, enter your ZIP code to find a list of nearby vendors—like Walmart, Target and Amazon—and select your favorite location.
Step 4: Let the magic happen!
Once you’ve picked a store, Chicory will automatically add all of the ingredients you need to your shopping cart. Sweet!
Editor’s Tip: In some cases, you may be asked to login or create an account for the vendor in question. Luckily, this process takes mere minutes, and once you’re logged in your cart will be good to go.
Step 5: Edit your cart
Take a peek at your cart and make any additions or subtractions you’d like. For example, I already had eggs on hand, so I removed that ingredient from my cart. You can also make the recipe your own! It’s easy to add chocolate chips, spices or any other banana bread upgrades you like. Just search for the item and click “Add to Cart.”
Step 6: Check out
All that’s left is to check out! The exact process will vary by store, but you’ll typically be asked to pay and designate a time for pickup or delivery.
More Chicory Tips and Tricks
- Want to buy ingredients for the entire week? You can add multiple recipes to your cart via Chicory. Just make sure you pick the same store and location for one easy pickup.
- Go ahead and make substitutions. If you’re a diehard Kerrygold Butter fan you can make swaps for different brands or ingredient types. All you need to do is delete the item you want to replace, search for your favorite brand and add it to your cart. Keep in mind that, just like your local store, every vendor won’t carry every brand.
- Need a new baking pan? Go ahead and add other items to your cart! Once your ingredients are selected, feel free to peruse other odds ‘n’ ends. Chicory makes it easy to complete your entire weekly shopping haul in one go.
