Burger King Just Revealed an Advent Calendar—But Its Contents Are a Secret

While holiday gift crazes come and go—Tickle Me Elmo, Fitbits, George Foreman Grills—the annual tradition of the holiday Advent calendar has not only endured, but skyrocketed in popularity. Seemingly, every retailer has capitalized on the idea that customers are willing to buy a box of a dozen anything, as long as there are tiny perforated doors to open and prizes to discover inside. This year, an unexpected player has entered the game: Burger King.

What’s in the Burger King Advent calendar?

In a press release announcing the Advent calendar, Burger King is light on the details. We know that the chain’s first-ever Advent calendar will contain “12 delightful surprises, offering recipients a thoughtfully curated gift each day.” But as for what exactly is inside, BK hasn’t spilled the beans.

“Each of the BK Advent Calendar’s 12 items are inspired by past and present menu items, iconic campaigns and memorable moments throughout the rich, 70-year history of Burger King,” reads the press release in part, adding that customers can expect “everything from cozy comfort to festive flair,” as well as allusions to BK favorites like the Whopper. One can only assume that nothing perishable is included in the calendar, so actual Whoppers are probably off the table.

Burger King told Taste of Home that the full list of items will be revealed next week.

Where do I find it?

The calendars cost $19.54, in a nod to Burger King’s founding year of 1954. The press release notes that there will be over $100 worth of merchandise inside each one. That price point is right in line with many popular Aldi Advent calendars, which tend to sell out every year.

The BK calendars be available starting on November 22, but anyone eager to be first in line to purchase them can text ADVENT to 251-251 and opt into the BK Text Club to receive live updates.

“The first-ever BK Advent Calendar is the perfect gift to give to yourself or others and help spread holiday cheer,” Pat O’Toole, CMO of Burger King North America, said in the press release. (He might be on to something here—after all, $19.54 is a decent price to pay for a white elephant gift.)
