Brad Paisley’s Free Grocery Store Is Delivering Food During the Coronavirus Outbreak

You’ve probably been keeping up with the current situation regarding coronavirus. It’s hard not to! Of course, one of the side effects of this whole thing is the shortages; the lack of cleaning supplies, canned goods and toilet paper.

To the elderly, this kind of shortage is no laughing matter. The older folks in our community are vulnerable to the virus, and they need supplies. Brad Paisley knows this, which is why he’s delivering free food to seniors right now.

Brad Paisley Has a Store?

Unless you’re a huge Brad fan, you probably didn’t know he partnered with Belmont University and Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to open The Store, a free grocery store to serve Tennessee residents in need. The Store was scheduled to open mid-April, but in light of current events, it’s already up and running—and delivering a week’s worth of groceries at a time directly to those in need of help.

So, in light of changing times, @thestore_nashville is mobilizing delivery of a week’s groceries to our elderly neighbors in Edgehill and Berry Hill on Wednesday’s/Thursdays. If anyone needs to be included on this list, we urge them to contact [email protected] Also We will continue to operate regular hours 1-7 Th/F 11-5 Sat for walk ins but please bring ID and either proof of income, proof of residence, or statement of unemployment for our recently unemployed neighbors. #nashvillestrong

And Paisley isn’t just serving the elderly, either. His Insta post also mentions those who are recently unemployed due to the outbreak.

Honestly, this warms our hearts. During these frightening and uncertain times, it’s comforting to know people are trying to help those who are in need of assistance.

What Can I Do to Help?

Based on The Store’s website, it sounds like you can refer someone in need through a list of official referral partners or by contacting [email protected]. If you’re not in the Nashville area but want to support the cause, The Store takes donations here, too. And whether or not you’re able to donate, you can always help by practicing social distancing and good ol’ human kindness: right now, that’s what we need most of all.
