The best vacuum sealers are ideal for packaging small portions of food, but they have a few shortcomings. For one, most household vacuum sealers aren’t ideal for large portions of food, and they can’t be used to process liquids—unless you want to create a huge mess all over your kitchen counters. Plus, if you’re vacuum sealing in bulk, it’s going to take quite a while since you need to wait for the machine to cool down between packages.
If you’re ready to take your food storage game to the next level, it’s time to invest in the best chamber vacuum sealer for home cooks. The Avid Armor USV32 Ultra Series chamber vacuum sealer is a worthwhile upgrade to any kitchen. It vacuum seals all sorts of foods like soups, sauces and other liquids quickly and easily. Here’s what we love about it.
What is the Avid Armor chamber vacuum sealer?
While it’s definitely a bigger investment than an edge vacuum sealer, the Avid Armor chamber vacuum sealer offers speed and versatility for anyone who wants to package and preserve large quantities of food in less time. The appliance has a stainless steel body with a glass lid, and the inner chamber is 11.5 x 12 x 3.5 inches with an 8-liter capacity, which is ideal for sealing large portions. While the appliance itself is fairly large with a 16 x 14 x 10 inch footprint, it’s much more compact than commercial chamber vacuum sealers.
Unlike edge or handheld vacuum sealers, the best chamber vacuum sealers have a large enclosed compartment where you place food. While processing, all the air inside and outside the chamber is removed, creating a tight seal with minimal mess.
This chamber vacuum sealer is incredibly easy to operate thanks to its one-touch controls. The dial on the front of the machine monitors the pressure, measured in Hg, while the appliance works its magic. The unit also comes with a convenient filler plate, which makes the process faster when you’re working with smaller portions.
In addition to vacuum sealing meats, vegetables, soups and sauces the Avid Armor also has a convenient pre-programmed marinate function. Simply place meat or seafood and marinade inside the chamber in a sturdy dish, and it uses pressure to infuse the protein with delicious flavor in seconds!

How to Use a Chamber Vacuum Sealer
To use a chamber vacuum sealer, start by filling a compatible pouch with food (this model works with Mylar bags up to seven-mil thick), then laying it inside the chamber with the open edge laid flat over the seal bar. The sloped design of the inner chamber allows it to hold liquid-filled bags without worrying about spills.
Once you close the lid, simply hit the “Auto Vac & Seal” button and the vacuum sealer evacuates all the air from the chamber at once, leaving the air pressure equal inside and outside the pouch and keeping liquids securely inside the bag. (Alternatively, you can set a custom vacuum and seal time.) The sealing process takes around 60 seconds, and the 11.5-inch sealing bar creates a tight double seal on the pouch. Just like that, you’re ready to remove it and start sealing the next serving!
One of the biggest benefits of this technology is that it makes it easy and mess-free to seal liquids into convenient flat portions, making it one of the most compact freezer containers for soup. Chamber vacuum sealers also deliver a more durable seal than inexpensive edge vacuum sealers. They’re ideal for processing in bulk since you don’t have to wait for the machine to cool down before sealing another food package.
The Best User Reviews
We’re not the only ones who love this chamber vacuum sealer for efficient food storage.
“This is hands down the BEST vacuum sealer I’ve ever used,” shares 5-star reviewer, Brian F. “I’ve run almost 100 bags through this machine in the time I’ve had it, and haven’t had a single bad seal, or failed vacuum. The seal bar creates a double seal, so even if one fails or you have a piece of food stuck in it you’ve got backup. They also go the extra mile and send a spare seal bar.”
“Game changer!” writes verified purchaser W. Mitchell. “I wasn’t even aware that home chamber sealers even existed until I started watching sous vide YouTube channels. As soon as I saw the first one, I wanted one. The only problem was that these things are big and expensive. For a home user that doesn’t need to seal huge amounts of food, it can be hard to justify the price…The USV32 does strike a good balance though. It’s not as fast as the bigger, more expensive units but it is more affordable, smaller and virtually maintenance free. It weighs far less than the other units that I’ve looked at, and this too is a big bonus.”
Another happy Amazon Customer appreciates the chamber vac’s intuitive design. “At some point, I don’t know when, but I did about 45 minutes straight of vacuum sealing and it just turned into fun! This thing is awesome and so dang easy to use. Literally just skim in the instructions just to make sure you kind of got the gist of it, but it’s literally fool proof.”
