What Are the Benefits of Avocado Oil on Your Skin?

Thanks to all sorts of vitamins and minerals, avocado oil is helpful in soothing irritation and adding moisture back into the skin.

What nutrients does avocado oil contain? More like what doesn’t it contain! This oil is packed with fatty acids and vitamins A, D and E. It’s particularly valuable for people with dry, itchy skin, so keep avocado oil on hand during the harsh winter months.

Research has shown avocado oil may also boost collagen production, which can give skin a full, youthful appearance.

Does Avocado Oil Absorb Into Skin?

Yes! Avocado oil can penetrate deep into the skin, delivering optimal results. It also sits on top of the skin, forming a protective barrier. This one-two punch makes it a valuable skincare ingredient.

How to Make a DIY Avocado Oil Face Scrub

Ready to experience the wonders of avocado oil for skin? Follow the instructions below for an easy DIY scrub.

What You Need:

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Step 1: Measure and mix

Measure the two ingredients into a small bowl, then mix them together until the sugar is coated in oil.

Step 2: Prep your face

You’ll want your skin to be clean and dry to reap the full benefits of this scrub, so start by removing any makeup. Then, use your usual facial cleanser to remove dirt. Pat your face dry with a towel.

Step 3: Get to scrubbing

It’s time to scrub! Use your fingertips to scoop up the mixture and apply it to your face. Work the sugar in small, gentle circles to exfoliate and remove dry skin. Don’t scrub too hard, though, or else you’ll leave your skin feeling raw.

If you have leftover scrub, you can use it on your neck or hands. Sugar is a great way to exfoliate dry lips, as well!

Step 4: Rinse and enjoy

When you’re finished scrubbing, use warm water to rinse the mixture off your face. You’ll notice that there’s an oily residue left on your skin—this is supposed to be there. Use a towel to pat your face dry, then continue about your daily routine with your newly exfoliated and moisturized skin.

You’ll notice your skin feels softer and dewier after just one application. Repeat regularly for happy, healthy skin!

Don’t Want to DIY?

You can still reap the benefits of avocado oil without having to mix up your own treatment. Try Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment made with avocado oil. It’s a great way to hydrate your under-eye area before you apply makeup.
