Massachusetts-based dairy HP Hood LLC has issued a voluntary almond milk recall for refrigerated Vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk. It’s supposed to be dairy-free, but the cartons may contain dairy milk! The cartons were shipped to retailers and wholesalers in the following 28 states: AL, AR, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA and WI.
Your Level of Risk
For those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, the almond milk recall is not good news. Like peanut butter or shellfish, milk is a serious allergen and can cause an allergic reaction or illness. For people with an allergy or sensitivity, carefully inspect any Almond Breeze cartons you may have purchased to determine whether they’re subject to the recall. You can toss any affected products (or return them to the store).
For anyone who voluntarily observes a vegan, vegetarian or dairy-free diet, then you will want to steer clear of the affected product as well. Just starting a dairy-free lifestyle? Try this 30-day meal plan.
