Updated: May 06, 2020

Relaxation shouldn't cost a thing. Pamper yourself at home using these quick, easy DIY bath products made from household ingredients.

When you think about ways to relax and pamper yourself, at-home spa treatments probably come to mind. After all, there’s nothing more soothing than putting on some gentle music and a face mask, then soaking in the bathtub, right? (Here’s how to make sure your tub is squeaky clean.)

Well, we’re here to tell you that you can easily take your at-home spa experience to the next level with a few easy homemade bath products. All you need is common pantry ingredients to create amazingly effective products like sugar scrubs, cuticle creams, face masks and more.

Not only are they refreshing after long, stressful days, these five DIY spa products also make an outstanding gift for the beauty lovers in your life. Just be sure to save some to treat yourself, too.

1. Simple Sugar Scrub

Sugar scrubs are one of the easiest spa products to make at home, and this DIY product is super effective for scrubbing away dead skin while leaving your body smooth and moisturized.

Combine 1/4 cup sugar (either brown or white) and 1/4 cup coconut oil. Mix the two together, and massage onto damp skin in the bath or shower.

2. Hydrating Honey Hair Mask

All that blow-drying, flat ironing or curling can dry out your tresses. This mix adds back much-needed moisture.

In a microwave-friendly jar, combine 1/4 cup honey, 1/4 cup coconut oil and 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar. You can use it right away—heat in a microwave a few seconds—or store it. (If you go the latter route, you’ll see that the ingredients separate when stored. When you’re ready to use the mask, put the jar in the microwave for a few seconds and give it a good stir.)

Use your hands to apply the mask from root to tip. Twist your hair up into a bun or wrap it in a towel, and let the mask work its magic for 20 to 30 minutes—just enough time to enjoy a bubble bath!

3. Olive Oil Cuticle Cream

Before you paint your nails, give the cuticles the royal treatment with a homemade cuticle cream—only three ingredients required.

Whisk together 1/2 teaspoon olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice and 2 teaspoons petroleum jelly.

Apply a little bit of this cream to your nails before your next manicure. Bye-bye, hangnails!

4. Sweet Avocado Face Mask

Yes, we’re about to tell you to put avocado on your face. This DIY face mask is a fabulous way to hydrate skin and refine pores, all while you kick back and relax.

In a small bowl, mash a quarter of a ripe avocado. Add 1 tablespoon cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon honey, then stir it all together.

Apply the mask to your face, and let it soak in for 10 minutes. Wash off the mixture with warm water, and prepare to be in awe of how incredible your skin feels.

5. Turmeric Eye Mask

If you’re one of the many people who struggle to minimize or conceal dark under-eye circles, the remedy may have been in your pantry all along. This two-ingredient under-eye mask will help improve the appearance of eye bags in just a few minutes.

Stir together 2 teaspoons turmeric and 3 teaspoons pineapple juice, forming a paste. Carefully apply the mixture under your eyes, and let it sit for around 10 to 15 minutes. Don’t leave it on for too long or the turmeric might stain your skin.

Gently wash off the paste with warm water. For best results, repeat regularly.

The next time you have a rough day at work, use one of these DIY bath products to pamper yourself as you unwind. Not only are they quick and easy to whip up, but they’re extremely affordable and amazingly effective and, like these recipe treats, they make great holiday gifts.
