Indoor Grilling Tips
Do you miss firing up the grill in winter? It's never too cold when you have an indoor grill to rely on. In fact, we think this little gadget is so handy, we're sure you'll be using yours even when it's nice outside!
If you don't have an indoor grill, don't worry. We've done some hands-on testing for you and are sharing our results and recommendations.
Tips for cooking with an indoor grill:
- Always pre-heat the indoor grill according to manufacturer's directions.
- If your recipe includes fish, lean meats or sugary marinades and cooking spray, spray the grill before pre-heating. Close the lid and pre-heat according to manufacturer's directions.
- To tell if your salmon is cooked properly, insert a fork at an angle into the thickest portion of the fish. When it is opaque and flakes easily into sections, it is cooked completely.
- Always use plastic utensils on the nonstick grill surface as metal utensils may damage it.
- Choose thicker cuts of meat or fish (3/4- to 1-inch). Thinner cuts may dry out quicker and cuts that are less than 1/2-inch thick may not contact the upper grill completely.
- Boneless cuts of meat or poultry that are uniformly thick help to ensure even browning. Chicken breasts may need to be pounded to an even thickness.
