It was developed by Taste of Home prep cook Aria Thornton. When she put it through the test kitchen for perfection, the taste testers' vote was unanimous: These really are the best scalloped potatoes ever.

Aria says her secret to her best-ever potatoes is that she slices them extra thin and tosses them in a rich, creamy cheese sauce made with a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack. "Then, to make them the best ever," she says, "I sprinkle homemade bread crumbs on top that get nice and crispy in the oven." Her recipe is made of simple ingredients, and it bakes and bubbles in the oven for a little over an hour. Maybe that's why it tastes extra delicious!
