I made these today for breakfast. I substituted the milk for heavy cream. They turned out delicious!! What an easy recipe. The whole family loved them! Next time I make them I will definitely try the suggestions posted in the reviews.
THIS TIME OF THE YEAR I LIKE TO USE EGGNOG AS THE BASE ADD A COUPLE SCRAMBLED EGGS, A SPLASH OF VANILLA AND SOME CINNAMON. I USE TEXAS TOAST AS MY BREAD CHOICE. DREDGE THE BREAD ON BOTH SIDES IN THE MIXTURE AND PLACE IN A PREHEATED BUTTERED PAN. I SPRINKLE NUTMEG ON THE FINISHED PRODUCT. YUMMY
This is an excellent basic recipe. I've used one like this for years and it's delicious. I have switched up variations from time to time. I sometimes use Kings Hawaiian Bread, cinnamon raisin bread, Texas toast. Would like to try brioche, but havn't found any yet. I have used egg nog and that is the bomb. This a customable recipe
For a twist i used rum extract and egg nog instead of milk.
I have always used vanilla in my French toast. French or Italian bread is very good to use but if you can get Brioche, use it! I don't always use cinnamon but always use Equal, my husband is diabetic. I do use 2% milk but sometimes half and half or whipping cream. French toast is a fav of mine.
