Triple Fudge Brownies Recipe

When you're in a hurry to make dessert, here's a "mix of mixes" that's so convenient and quick. The result is a big pan of very rich, fudgy brownies. Friends who ask me for the recipe are amazed that it's so easy. —Denise Nebel, Wayland, Iowa
TOTAL TIME: Prep: 10 min. Bake: 30 min. YIELD:48 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix (regular size)
  • 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • Confectioners' sugar
  • Vanilla ice cream, optional

Directions

  • 1. Prepare pudding according to package directions. Whisk in dry cake mix. Stir in chocolate chips.
  • 2. Pour into a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until the top springs back when lightly touched.
  • 3. Dust with confectioners' sugar. Serve with ice cream if desired. Yield: 4 dozen.

flavor was in question, very one note

"Try this recipe with spice cake, butterscotch pudding and butterscotch chips. Very good. Also, use one cup chopped nuts and one cup chips and try peppermint or peanut butter chips for a different flavor."

"I agree with conshanty - this is not really a brownie. While it tastes good and everyone at my husband's work loved them, they are too moist to eat as a bar, you need a plate and fork. And they don't taste like brownies; brownies have their own distinctive flavor."

"I made these to take to a church picnic. They tasted great but were much gooier than the picture - I think I'll halve the amount of choc chips next time. This is a terrific recipe for a party or potluck - very easy and the brownies come out moist and tender. I used one of these new-fangeled double-bottom baking sheets, lined with a new Reynolds Wrap product which is foil on one side and parchment paper on the other so I didn't have to grease my new pan, which came with its own lid - perfect!"

"I have made this recipe lots of times...with some changes..being diabetic i use sugar free cook & serve pudding,,,stir in a sugar free chocolate cake mix while pudding is hot pour into prepared pan..sprinkle 1/2 c choc chips and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts over top and bake...these changes will cut the calorie-carb-sodium numbers almost in half...Supatina"

"Just wanted to say that I have made these brownies MANY times and I requests for them all the time. They are simple to make and I usually have the ingredients in the pantry. I do sometimes reduce the chocolate chips just a bit (I am not a chocolate lover myself) and sometimes add walnuts. Have never added ice cream though! This recipe gets passed on to many! Enjoy!"
