  • 5 plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh cilantro
  • Tortilla chips

1/4 cup: 11 calories, 0g fat (0g saturated fat), 0mg cholesterol, 62mg sodium, 2g carbohydrate (1g sugars, 1g fiber), 0g protein .


  1. In a small bowl, combine the first seven ingredients. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Serve with tortilla chips. Yield: 2-1/2 cups.
Editor's Note: Wear disposable gloves when cutting hot peppers; the oils can burn skin. Avoid touching your face.

"I used a dried chipotle pepper in place of the jalepeno pepper. I like my salsa on the smooth side so I zapped all ingredients in the food processor on pulse. Great recipe!"
