Strawberries 'n' Cream Scones Tips

What is the secret to making good scones?

Tender, flaky scones are the shining star of breakfast and brunch. And the key to good scones is using cold ingredients and mixing only until ingredients are combined. Over mixing and handling will result in tough scones. Find more delicious scone recipes.

How do I make scones rise better?

Baking powder give scones their lift, but you can get even more rise by baking scones closer together. Psst! Not all scones are sweet. Give these savory cocktail scones a whirl at your next gathering.

Why are my scones doughy in the middle?

All-purpose flour is best for this strawberry scones recipe as it has a low protein content. Protein builds gluten, which is good for bread, but will make scones doughy. Proper baking times and temperature are also vital to light, fluffy scones. Using an oven thermometer and a kitchen timer will ensure that baked goods are cooked through without burning.
