Ingredients

  • 4 beef top sirloin steaks (6 ounces each)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • SAUCE:
  • 1 jar (4-1/2 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • 1/2 cup French onion dip
  • 2 tablespoons half-and-half cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced chives
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

1 steak with 1/3 cup sauce equals 304 calories, 15 g fat (7 g saturated fat), 98 mg cholesterol, 567 mg sodium, 5 g carbohydrate, 1 g fiber, 34 g protein.

Directions

  1. Sprinkle steaks with salt and pepper. Grill steaks, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from heat for 5-7 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a meat thermometer should read 145°; medium, 160°; well-done, 170°).
  2. In a large skillet, saute mushrooms and garlic in oil for 3 minutes. Stir in the onion dip, cream, chives and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 2-3 minutes or until heated through. Serve with steaks. Yield: 4 servings.

I've made this twice already. My son who hates mushrooms loved it and wanted more of the mushrooms in it. Yum Yum.

Couldn't be easier to prepare. Great taste for such simple ingredients and a nice way to dress up a steak. I'll be making this again.
