Reviews for Springtime Penne
"We thought this was pretty good, but a bit bland. Definitely a good light meal for spring time. I added in minced garlic and a little garlic salt, but that didn't seem to help much with the taste. After it was served we tried putting some shredded mozzarella on top and that did the trick. Next time I will do more garlic, and then melt some mozzarella in during the last step. I didn't use the full lb of asparagus because the ones I picked up were thin so 1 lb just looked like way too much. I also did about 3 1/4 C farfalle pasta instead of the penne. Overall, a decent dish, but needs to be modified a bit."
"My husband really enjoyed this. Nice use for fresh asparagus, will definitely make again.,"
"We had a lot of fun with this recipe. I brought all ingredients to prepare it at my sister's house. She had some fresh sliced mushrooms that needed using so we threw them in during the last half of the sautéing process. Then we decided to add some dry mustard since it always goes nicely with ham. Finally someone suggested making it cheesy so 3 slices of processed American cheese were added (because it melts so nicely). I must say it was quite a big hit. That being said, when I've made this recipe exactly as directed it was good, too. Agree about the need to add a little more cream."
"I doubled the recipe since my family came for dinner. It was delicious!!! Even the grandkids like it."
"Super easy to make and absolutely delicious! I made it exactly as is with no changes. A great way to use up leftover ham. All the flavors go together wonderfully!"
"Hands down this is our favorite asparagus recipe and use for left over ham recipe. The only thing two things I do different is not add the entire large onion, only about half and add more cream. This is the BEST recipe ever!"
"This is our new favorite aspargus recipie. I didn't know just a little cream made such a great sauce. I was successful in freezing some leftovers for a couple of weeks. I then reheated/steamed it in the microwave. I did add just a bit more moisture to do that"
"This is delicious. The only thing I do a bit different is I add a bit more cream to the sauce. It's my favorite recipe using asparagus."
"We really enjoyed this!!! It was nice and creamy and very easy to make!! I used deli ham and sprinkled a little parmesan cheese on each serving. For those who like things a little zestier, you might want to add a little garlic or some hot pepper flakes. . ."
