"This is a great snowy day drink! I just used a little more nutmeg and cinnamon because I love those flavors a lot, but the recipe, as is, is DELICIOUS! Thanks for sharing!"
"Used real lowfat milk and chai tea bags, really good"
"Can you substitute something in place of sugar like stevia if so how much ?"
"Have been making it for years and love it!"
"This tasted pretty good, but the cardamom is a little pricey. The worst thing about this recipe is that the powdered milk would not dissolve. There was always a glob of it in the bottom of the cup even when I stirred it the entire time I was drinking. If they could improve powdered milk, I would love this recipe."
"Love it!! For those of you asking about unsweetened instant tea - it took me awhile but I found it in one of my local Wal-Marts. I used it all up but think it was Nestea brand but could have been Lipton. Not all of my local Wal-Marts had it but keep looking. Hopefully you will find it. My husband uses the instant tea for making use Russian Tea and now I will use it for this Chai recipe."
"can't find unsweetened instant tea--can anyone help?"
"
I am struggling to find the unsweetened instant tea... can there be a substitution?
I'm thinking you could leave the sugar out & use a sweetened mix. One without lemon. I was looking on-line to see if I could find a brand, but I'm not coming up with one."
"I am struggling to find the unsweetened instant tea... can there be a substitution?"
"This is very tasty! My sis-in-law and I love it. It is great as is, but to make it a little healthier, we cut the sugar down & replace half or more of the sugar with Splenda. You could experiment with that - to get the combo that works best for your taste buds. Now we don't feel so guilty drinking this yummy hot drink. I'm thinking a splash of bourbon or rum on a wintery chilly night might also be an idea...."
"This is wonderful! My son loves going to Starbuck's but it can get pretty expensive. I made this for him and he just loves it. Thanks for the delicious recipe!"
"I used to purchase a Chai Mix from the store but it got too expensive. I tried this recipe last night and LOVED it!! I still have to purchase a food processor so I can get the powdery consistency the way it should be, but I used my rolling pin last night to break down the dry milk as best as I could and it worked just fine. Had 2 hot cups last night and another this morning. I won't be without this mix made up in my kitchen ever again. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!"
"U can buy the instant ice tea at Walmart. Also try the Blended Chai Tea in the summer time.2 cups ice cubes1/3 c. mix2/3 c. milkBlend in blender till smooth and top with whipped cream.Very Good."
"I will make it again and again. What a favorite."
"I love Chia tea and buy at that expensive coffee place often, after making this I won't be spending so much at that coffee place. I love it also because I can have a late night cup without going out of my house. Will make this again and again."
"I made this Chi Tea today. I did change a couple things because I read some reviews. I did not use sugar at all. I used Vanilla coffee creamer that was sugar free, which was sweetened with Splenda. I used 1 cup instead of the 3/4 because I did not use sugar, and I added 1/2 teaspoon more of the spices. Now I can enjoy with less guilt. Very good."
"Made it as directed only sugar-free. Thought it was great, but next time I'll kick up the spices a bit and add a pinch or two of salt as someone else suggested."
"Very good, and simple to make. I do not have a food processor so I struggled a bit with getting everything smooth and well mixed but I discovered that the blender works for mixing about two or so cups of the powder at a time. I just mixed up the big batch with my kitchen aid mixer and then blended 2 cup portions in the blender to get it evenly smooth."
"We increased the major spices to give it more "punch" as we like the flavors to pop in our food and drinks. Adding a pinch of salt greatly enhanced the flavor. Consider using with milk for a richer version."
"Amazing! Delicious! Great for gifts!"
"I love this recipe. In order to cut calories, I substituted sugar free french vanilla creamer, and splenda. It's still delicious! My daughter takes this to work with her everyday."
"This was very good. I put the mix in glass jelly jars and gave as small gifts. One of the recipients asked for the recipe so she can make it to give as gifts this week, too!"
"This was great! Tastes and smells wonderful. I am so excited, to give it as gifts. I put individual servings in small zip locks w/ a pretty label on the bag w/ instructions! I found the unsweetended lipton at Wal-Mart!"
"Lipton still makes unsweetened tea mix. Their website can tell you were you can find it in your area. Lipton.com"
"I have also searched high and low for unsweetened instant tea and can not find it. Maybe they don't have it in Canada."
"Oh, and one more thing... I am going to try it "Sugar Free" next time I make it... with Splenda and fat free/sugar free vanilla creamer. I'll post again to let everyone know how it goes!"
"I made this for an office party at my college, and man it was a huge hit all across campus! We've all decided that this mix is just as good or better than the drinks at many local coffee shops! I doubled the mix, and had enough to serve over 50 people."
"I used Nestea's unsweetened instant tea. Delicious chai . . . also tasty with a little Amaretto!"
"Where do you find unsweetened instant tea?"
"Wonderful! Will make very nice Christmas gift jars for friends and co-workers."
