Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Sandwiches Recipe

I like to share this dish at potlucks because it can be made ahead, which I especially appreciate during the busy holiday season. The sweet-and-spicy sauce is always a hit.—Martha Anne Carpenter, Mesa, Arizona
TOTAL TIME: Prep: 20 min. Cook: 8-1/2 hours YIELD:10 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 boneless pork loin roast (4 pounds)
  • 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) beef broth
  • 1/3 cup plus 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce, divided
  • 1/3 cup plus 1/4 cup Louisiana-style hot sauce, divided
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup prepared mustard
  • 10 kaiser rolls, split

Directions

  • 1. Cut roast in half; place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine broth, 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce and 1/3 cup hot sauce; pour over roast. Cook, covered, on low 8-10 hours or until tender.
  • 2. Remove roast; discard cooking juices. Shred pork with two forks. Return pork to slow cooker.
  • 3. In a small bowl, combine ketchup, molasses, mustard and remaining Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Pour over pork. Cook, covered, on high 30 minutes or until heated through. Serve on rolls. Yield: 10 servings.

"This was absolutely delicious. I followed the recipe except that I used a pork picnic butt and trimmed it down from the fat. I was short of time so I used HI for 4 hours and then drained it off and added the homemade sauce for 30 minutes on LO. Loved it."

"I absolutely love this. I've adjusted the amount of hot sauce somewhat, and do some things in different sequence but overall this is a FIVE star recipe. (I'm also going to try beer in stead of broth, although I don't know what to expect but it seems to be working very well also.)"

"I am making this for the SECOND time in a month, today. Instead of beef broth, I used beer. DELICIOUS! I added a little mesquite seasoning and UPPED the hot sauce a tad. I eliminated the hot sauce completely from the bbq sauce mix. The meat was spicy enough."

"I made this today and after 3 hours of cooking, my entire house had the best smell. I will make this again and again. The sauce was wonderful and the meat was so tender, I never had to use a knife or fork. I only cooked a 2lb roast and 1/2 the recipe of everything else. I cook for only one and it was enough for me to have left overs. Love it Love it."

"Very good dark style bbq sauce. I totally agree 1/ 2 cup of Molasses is perfect for this recipe, however if you like thick dark sweet flavor from the molasses in your bbq sauce than by all means go for the 1 cup measurement as directed. Over all this is a super good bbq sauce for pulled pork....I haven even used it on my beef brisket before and it was wonderful! Ty for the great recipe."

"This was a perfect recipe for the 4 lb. pork roast I had in the freezer and needed a flexible meal for a cold, snowy day. I did read previous reviews and cut molasses down to 1/3 cup and hot sauce to 1/3 cup. Had a great flavor, and will try even try adding a little more of each ingredient next time. I also added sauce several hours earlier to accommodate the crazy family schedule of people coming and going at different times. Very good and will make it again."

"We love pulled pork in our house, and this recipe did not disappoint! I made a few changes: First, we had a baseball game to go to, and I wanted to eat when we got home. So instead of adding the sauce at the end and turning it up to high, I added it with 3 hours remaining and left it on low. Also, after reading the other reviews, I cut the molasses in half and left out 1/3 cup of the hot sauce. The molasses change was good - it would have been too sweet for me with the whole amount. But, next time I will go ahead and add all of the hot sauce. I like a little heat! This is definitely a recipe we will make again!"

"This will be our new "go to" recipe for pulled pork. I love the no mess/fuss slow cooker approach. Didn't add the extra hot sauce in the end due to feedback from others that it gave it too much of a kick and it was tasty and delicious. I'd suggest a little hit of chipotle pepper just for flavour if you like it."

"Very delicious and simple to make. I made the roast ahead of time and shredded it, and put it in the fridge. The day of guests arrivin, just dumped it in the crockpot and put the sauce ing. on top and stirred a few times while simmering. It was a great hit on fresh homemade rolls. I used Franks' Buffalo Hot sauce. Spicy & zippy."

"Was nervous about making shredded pork for the first time. But this recipe was easy to follow and the fact you can pre set the night before is wonderful. Whole family enjoyed. One note: If you are not a spicy lover watch out for the hot sauce it seanks up on you."
