We live in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, which has a rich heritage of German culture. Dishes that include sauerkraut, potatoes and sausage around here. We enjoy this recipe on cold winter evenings, along with muffins and fruit. The "mmm's" start with the first whiff as the door opens after school or work.

"Yummy! We all loved this recipe. Even my 3 year old liked it.

I didn't have cooked chicken and I used homemade white sauce in place of the mushroom soup. We will be making this again."

"This was different from anything I've ever tried before, but I liked it. I think it could grow on me. One thing I noticed while I was putting it together was that there was no onion in it. I somewhat reluctantly went ahead and made it as written, but it seemed that something was missing when I was eating it. Later I looked up a lot of sauerkraut soup recipes online and they ALL had onion in them. I love onions .....if I make this again, they will be in it!"

"This soup is probably not for everyone, but for those who like sauerkraut it is delicious. I made it last fall for our annual octoberfest party and people were asking to take home leftovers."

"Next time I would add 2 pounds of sausage. I omitted the chicken and the mushrooms and used vegetable broth instead of chicken."

"Made this soup for a church potluck and everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. I even used turkey kielbasa to lessen fat and calories. Will definitely make it again - so

easy and delicious!"
