"This is a good "base" for a good sloppy joe recipe, but as-written, it's waaaaayy too ketchupy.. I doubled the onion/garlic powers, mustard (1 tsp yellow and 1 tsp dijon), and worcestershire. There's definitely some modifications needed for this recipe, which is fine for me...but for someone like my mom who doesn't care for cooking, this recipe would be a fail. She was looking for a good sloppy joe recipe and I'll give her this recipe...WITH my modifications."
"I wanted to make this recipe for watching the Super Bowl and OMG what a disaster, I don't know what went wrong but it was awful. SUPER SWEET because of the ketchup and it was not very saucey, it was just seasoned ground beef with no liquid to "simmer". Took me a lot of time to fix this, had to add lots of water, tomato paste and seasoning to fix the sweetness of the ketchup. I wanted to like this so much... shame."
"My husband and I really enjoyed these. I made a few changes just to suit our likes: I only added 1/2 cup of ketchup and added about 1/4 cup of our favorite BBQ sauce. Only added 1 tablespoon of dark brown sugar, upped the worcestershire to 2 tablespoons, and added a can of diced tomatoes (drained). Its on the sweet and tangy side, for sure, but that's what we enjoyed most about it. It's definitely a keeper and I look forward to adding it to our winter meal rotation!"
"My new go-to recipe. The only change I made was cutting the brown sugar in half and adding a tablespoon of cider vinegar because I like it a little tangy. The kids loved it the way it is."
"LOVE this recipe! The first time I made it, the recipe turned out a little sweet for our taste. Second time, I used 3/4 Cup ketchup, and 1/4 Cup honey barbecue sauce. Everything else was as stated in the recipe. It was PERFECT! Just the right balance of sweet and tangy. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because of my adjustment. Definitely a keeper, though! :-) Thank you!"
