Ingredients

  • 1 package (32 ounces) frozen shredded hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 1 can (15-1/2 ounces) sloppy joe sauce

Nutritional Facts

1 cup: 364 calories, 15g fat (6g saturated fat), 100mg cholesterol, 1004mg sodium, 29g carbohydrate (5g sugars, 3g fiber), 26g protein

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, soup, egg, salt and pepper. Spread into a lightly greased 5-qt. slow cooker. In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in sloppy joe sauce. Spoon over potato mixture.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 4-1/2 hours or until a thermometer reads 160°. Yield: 8 servings.

"I wasn't really sure what to expect out of this recipe but it was actually very tasty. I did about a half tsp of salt instead of one tsp and I did the half tsp of pepper but next time I would definetly do like a quarter tsp but everything else I would keep the same!"

"Loved this. I, too, omitted the egg substitue (a littel pricey to purchase) and used one egg. I have a new slow cooker/crock pot and found this cooked way quicker than the recipe indicates."

"I cooked the beef and mixed up the hash browns last night; refrigerated them; put them together in the slow cooker this morning. My family really liked it! I used the Bold Manwich (for a little extra flavor). I don't know why there was egg substitute in the recipe, forgot to buy some, so just whisked a whole egg and mixed it in. Easy, tasty recipe. When my daughter ate hers, she threw some shredded cheddar and French's french fried onions on top; she said that rocked!"

"This is one of my favorite recipes. I have used regular eggs without any problems. In the faster cookers we have now, you don't want to be gone too long as the meat will start to burn. The flavor is great."

I now find myself browsing recipes less and less because of reviews that complain about ingredients, methods, or nutritional content.I dont understand why they look at all either.Some people just have to complain.I just wonder if most know how foolish they sound. I will take nutritional advice and opinion of a nutritionist over someone on a recipe rate and review board!"
