Skillet Pork Chops with Apples

Our family loves to use apples to brighten savory dishes. We experimented with pork chop and apple recipes to find the perfect pairing. —Amanda Jobe, Olathe, Kansas
Ingredients

4 boneless pork loin chops (4 ounces each and 3/4 inch thick)

1 teaspoon dried oregano, divided

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper

1-1/2 teaspoons canola oil

2 small apples, cut into 1/2-inch slices
-
1 cup sliced sweet onion (1/4 inch thick)

1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup cider vinegar
Directions

Sprinkle pork chops with 1/2 teaspoon oregano, salt and pepper. Place a large skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Brown pork chops, about 3 minutes per side; remove from pan.

In same pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add apples, onion and remaining oregano; cook and stir 6-8 minutes or until apples are tender.

Reduce heat to medium; stir in applesauce and vinegar. Return chops to pan; cook, covered, 4-6 minutes or until pork is tender. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
