Simple Syrup Recipe
This is used to sweeten a variety of mixed drinks, but can also be used to sweeten iced tea or coffee.—Taste of Home Test Kitchen
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 3-5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat; cool to room temperature.
- 2. Transfer to a container with a tight-fitting lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Yield: 1-2/3 cups.
