Simple Syrup

 Simple Syrup
This is used to sweeten a variety of mixed drinks, but can also be used to sweeten iced tea or coffee.—Taste of Home Test Kitchen

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water


  • In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil over
  • medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 3-5 minutes or
  • until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Remove from the
  • heat; cool to room temperature.
  • Transfer to a container with a tight-fitting lid. Store in the
  • refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Yield: 1-2/3 cups.
