"I’ve always liked sloppy joes but was feeling that my own recipe lacked character. Then a co-worker shared hers with me, and I guarantee I’ll never go back! Grape jelly adds a hint of sweetness to this fun, flavorful mixture, but I often use more than called for because my husband likes his extra sweet," shares Jessica Mergen from Cuba City, Wisconsin.

"The flavor was good but way too sweet! Even the grandkids said " Why is this so sweet? " l couldn't give it to my diabetic sister either. Sorry to say l had to pitch it. I'll stick to my recipe next time."

"My initial attraction to this recipe was the grape jelly. We all know that grape jelly and ketchup make a great BBQ sauce. Then there is the celery flavor which I think makes tomatoes pop. I was a little reserved with the thought of the condensed tomato soup but what respectable kitchen pantry doesn't have a can of that on the shelf. So, since I was searching for something different I made it exactly as the recipe said. It was GREAT! I will have to try it again on some innocent bystanders to get a second opinion."

"I loved the different flavors going on in this recipe! Very unique and of course, much better than the canned stuff with very little prep time."

"This recipe is great and so easy. My husband used to eat the sloppy joe stuff from a can but once I made this he never went back (could be I refuse to buy the stuff). It is so yummy that when I make it I usually double the recipe and freeze half for later."

"This is my go to sloppy joe recipe, very kid friendly since it is on the sweet side. I usually leave out the celery seed and make it with ground turkey instead of beef. I sometimes make a larger batch and freeze it in ziploc bags and reheat in the crockpot for a quick, easy dinner."

"My family loves this recipe. We've been making it for years now. It is a bit sweet, I make a spicy sloppy joe recipe too when I'm feeling bold. However, this is our go-to family recipe 99% of the time because our 4 year old just loves it and he isn't much of a meat eater so this recipe is a keeper for us!"

"My son hates sloppy joes. When I saw this recipe it reminded me of the cocktail meatballs he loves. I made them and he loved them! I make them for parties all the time and people quite often ask me for the recipe. I often increase the recipe and portion it out to freeze. A quick and simple meal on hand when you need it!"

"Though the concept of a sloppy joe recipe with grape jelly in it is interesting, we found the sauce to have an odd flavor--too sweet and something else we couldn't put our fingers on."
