Scrum-Delicious Burgers Recipe

Scrum-Delicious Burgers Recipe

I'm not sure where this recipe originated, but it's one of my family's summertime favorites. I usually serve these juicy burgers when we have company. The guests rave about the flavorful cheesy topping. It's fun to serve a burger that's a little more special. —Wendy Sommers, West Chicago, Illinois
TOTAL TIME: Prep/Total Time: 30 min. YIELD:6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped onion

  • 1/3 cup canned sliced mushrooms
  • 6 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

"No canned mushrooms! Use fresh, chopped baby bellas. Also, add a tablespoon or two of steak sauce to the beef mixture for more flavor."

"These were so flavorful! I browned the onion before adding it to the hamburger otherwise, followed the recipe. Will definitely make these again."

"The topping was good, but the amount it made only allowed a small amount for each burger. Therefore, the flavors really didn't come through. I omitted the mushrooms. I would recommend increasing the mayonnaise. Overall, the burgers were really plain-tasting compared to some of the other recipes I use."

"Lucious Burger.Only one substitution. Try browning fresh little cremeni mushrooms in butter until crisp. Don't add to cheese mixture. Add to burger when you are ready to serve. Nice deep flavor !!!!"

"Nothing really special about this recipe as far as ingredients. Basically a bacon/mushroom cheese burger.

I omitted the garlic salt and used real garlic."

"My niece Tina and I just made these burgers and oh so tasty! But now Tina's locked herself away in the bedroom so upset about 29 grams of fat, well I just said honey that jus' helps slide down easier, that's all. Now she's goin' on about only 2 grams of fiber, well...we all know the drug store sells "natures broom" for that too! Tina please come out! Auntie A loves you honey...Tina"

"Well, my niece Tina and I just made these burgers! Oh, so tasty. Then she read the nutritional break down and oh my, she's locked herself in the water closet. Tina, the 29 grams of fat only helps the food to slide down easier, that's all honey! I know there's only 2 grams of fiber, but they make things to get natures broom goin' too, you'll see!... Tina!"

"My family and I have been making these incredible burgers since we first saw the recipe in Taste of Home in the '90s. Everything is right about this recipe; the flavors and textures are just great. You have the smokiness going on with the bacon, the tangy cheese and creamy mayo... Best burger on the grill!"
