With hearty sausage, crisp apples and a subtle sweet flavor, this is almost a meal in itself. My family especially enjoys this dish on a chilly evening.

"This is a very good baked apple recipe. I used turkey sausage. We got the sausage taste we like at breakfast along with the health benefit of a nice piece of apple. I added pecans, as we like a good crunch. The recipe did not state when to use the maple syrup, so we drizzled it on our plated apple."
