"I love this recipe, make it at least 6 times a year. I double the recipe and put it in a 10x13 pan, use a 12oz bag of chocolate chips, and enough small marshmallows to cover the chocolate. They turn out awesome, and are always a hit, and most requested."
"I just made this recipe and incorporated many suggestions..... One key to melt the marshmallow creme to make prep easier- was great!! Will always do in future use of recipes using marshmallow creme; truly an awesome tip!! Also used more graham cracker crumbs and much less flour and made a thinner crust. Then after laying crust sprinkled with additional graham cracker crumbs and also a sprinkling at the end. Great recipe, a s'more in a simple bar! Taste is delicious!!"
"Fun treat- microwave the marshmallow creme to make it easier to spread. I used an 11x7 pan instead of a 9x9. Mine baked in exactly 25 mins."
"These bars are absolutely delicious! What a scrumptious treat! I doubled the recipe and baked it in a 13"x9" pan."
"These were tasty cookie bars. My kids absolutely adored them. Great item to take on a picnic."
"I reversed the amounts of graham cracker crumbs and flour, and I used brown sugar and dark chocolate bars. I used a slightly larger pan to make the base a little thinner. I did a little test section of cut marshmallows, but we didn't really like them; the marshmallow cream made a better bar. Yum!"
"These are just really awesome and not hard to make! It has been a great hit at parties or where ever I have taken them!"
"These were very tasty. As other reviews commented, though, they taste more like a cookie bar. Perhaps changing the name to s'mores cookie bars would be helpful. I feel it would more accurately reflect the rich, doughy texture of the crust. With that said, my kids absolutely loved these. Although they were different from what I expected, they were still delicious."
"These bars were so yummy and easy to make. I also decreased sugar and they were still wonderful....as close to a campfire smore as you will get."
"I wrote about these bars early on and said they didnt have much of a graham cracker taste but I put them in the fridge since they were a bit sticky and after about 1 day the taste's all melded more together and they had a great graham crackery, chocolate goodness, marshmallowy, great taste! Thanks TOH!"
"Oh wow! Super sweet! Next time I make these snacks I think I'll try half the sugar with all the chocolate & marshmallow I don't think it needs the added sugar to the cookie crust? I don't think it taste like a s'mores but if your craving something super sweet "then this is it!" My husband said its a good snack and a small piece goes a long way. Thank you for this sweet memory."
"I baked 5 TOH dessert recipes for a big Army potluck and this was the runaway favorite! The whole pan was gone....eaten by kids and adults alike. It was a simple recipe, tasty and price effective. Will make again!"
"This recipe was very easy and tasty. I used chocolate hazelnut spread instead of candy bars...mmmmm"
"I was thumbing through some of my issues of TOH looking for a new bar recipe to take to a Girl's Weekend at the Cabin, when I found this one and decided to give it a try. They are so scrumptious, and have quickly become one of my "go-to" recipes!"
"Instead of using 5 candy bars, I used a Giant Hershey's bar (7 oz) because it is more cost efficient. The bars were good, but I would have enjoyed a crust that incorporated more graham cracker and less flour."
"I even double this recipe, putting it in a 13x9. These are unstoppable!!! A perfect treat that will please any group!"
"It's a good thing that I made two batches, because every last crumb was gone with recipe requests from everyone. S'mores without the mess or the danger of fire with kids."
"These weren't horrible, but I probably wouldn't make them again. Seemed to be a bit dry & crumbly, taste was ok, smell was good, and they were easy."
"A favorite recipe of ours. Everyone asks for it. I sprinkle some mini marshmallows on top before baking."
"These are the BOMB! I made these for Vacation Bible School and they were gone in no time. Loved Them!"
"I've previously rated this recipe but I wanted to comment about a variation I tried today. I made these into cookies using a small cookie scoop, a large marshmallow cut in half, and 2 squares of a Hershey's bar per cookie. I baked the cookie for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees, added the marshmallow to the top of the cookie for 2 minutes then broiled it to brown it a little. I removed them from the oven then gently pressed the chocolate bars on top. I let them cool a little bit but not too long! I liked them as a cookie as much as a bar! My batch made about 2 1/2 dozen cookies."
"These were awesome! My boyfriend ate all of them in three days. The last day they got a little hard...but otherwise fantastic!"
"We loved these, they tasted rich from the combo of chocolate and marshmallow. The graham cracker crust didn't seem to have enough graham cracker flavor, I'll consider adding more graham and less flour also a little honey and vanilla to kick it up.For the chocolate, I'll either buy a more expensive brand or consider melting, cooling and pouring before baking... The traditional chocolate bar from Pennsylvania has a flavor that seems too distinctive and a little overbearing for the recipe."
"SUPER quick & easy to make, not a lot of clean up after preparing. A definite crowd pleaser!"
"This recipe is a keeper! Tastes just like s'mores, without the campfire! Very popular with our family."
"Took to an event and everyone wanted the recipe. Everyone, especailly my kids thought they were wonderful. My daughter wants me to make them tonight for her rowing team. Definately a family favorite."
"these are FABULOUS!! I used 10 large marshmallows and cut them in half, put the cut side down. They browned just like on a campfire! So yummy still warm. These def make the do-over list!"
"I've made this twice - the 1st time I followed the recipe & the bars were great! The 2nd time I substituted the chocolate bars for p.b. cups, which was so delicious but even richer! Great recipe that hits the spot when one is in the mood for a s'more."
"These were delicious. I followed the suggestions of using chocolate bars and not chocolate chips and marshmallow creme and not marshmallows, and they were perfect. They were easy to make and the kids love them."
"Eh. It was OK. I'll probably make it again because my kids like it. Does not have the rich burst of flavors - definitely not the same as popping a fresh off the campfire s'more into your mouth."
"Who ever contributed this recipe...Thanks!!! My friends and family are over the moon for these bars. Very little effort for all that bang! All my friends are emailing me, requesting the recipe."
"Followed directions as written and wasn't pleased. Didn't have a whole lot of graham cracker taste. The middle of the pan didn't get cooked all the way through. The topping and the marshmallow creme on top got hard."
"Made as written, delicious. Whole family loved them!"
"OMGosh!!!!!!!!!! This is to die for! YUM! I made them for a pool party and man, did they disappear!"
"These are just delicious. I also used mini marshmallows."
"Can these bars be frozen? Can these bars be frozen?"
"Very sweet. Big hit with my kids."
"I thought these bars were awfully sweet and that the taste was just "okay". Others thought they were pretty good and my son loved them, so for him I'd make them again. He thought they rated a 5, I was thinking 3.....we'll compromise and give the recipe a 4."
"This recipe was delcious especially warm. My sons had the whole pan ate within hours. Very good."
"These were great little bars for my 5 year old to eat. He wasn't as messy after eating these rather than a regular s'more."
"These are just yummy :). Awesome summer dessert."
"I made this with my daughter's roomie during their summer visit. We used chocolate graham crackers (not the cho covered ones)...heavenly. All that is needed is a BIG glass of milk."
"I make these for a bake sale every year and they are the first to sell out. I reduce the butter by half to have a less crumbly crust. I have even halved the entire crust ingredients and it is still just as good. Highly recommended!"
"I have this recipe from one of the older cookbooks and I make it all the time... They are always one of the first things to go and I've been asked for the recipe many times... They are even better a little warm so the chocolate is a little gooey!"
"If you love s'mores, you'll love this!"
"I made the recipe as directed and they were wonderful! I guess I added a little more marshmallow creme and it was too much for our taste but these were a big hit and I will definitely be making them again!"
"i changed the marshmallow cream to mini marshmallows, and used milk chocolate chips instead of bars, it was fantastic"
"These are amazing! They are always gone quickly. I am actually making these for a cookie exchange this year. To make it easier to deal with the marshmallow creme, just spray your spoon with pam before you spoon it into the pan."
"Very difficult to work with the marshmallow cream, I tried it w/ mini marshmallows but it doesnt taste as good as the cream. Either than that this is DELICIOUS. 4 stars for the taste, but 3 stars for the preparation"
"These are so tasty! Perfect for fall!!! Make sure to bake long enough as they can be a bit difficult to work with if they are too gooey. Love love love these!!!"
"All I have to say is AMAZING!!!! they are very good and they are not as sweet as you would think and thats what makes it better!"
"Fantastic. I doubled this recipe and used a parchment lined 13x5 pan. I had to add five minuted to the baking time. They are pictured on my page. My husband said, Mmmmmm"
"Chocolate- Marshmallows- and graham crackers- So good- my husband says and not as messy as smores but just as good! Yes I will make these again! YUM"
"I hate working with marshmallow creme, so I used about a cup of mini marshmallows instead. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly as written. They were FANTASTIC and received rave reviews at the picnic I brought them to. Tasted even better the second day!"
"These were easy and very tasty. I used chocolate chips and mini marshmallows instead, but next time I will use the candy bars and the marshmallow cream just so they are more evenly distributed. I really liked how the marshmallows browned up and got crispy just like when you roast them, though!"
"OMG THESE ARE THE BEST THINGS EVER!! I sat and ate the whole pan myself! I loove smores and these are the perfect smore flavor without the mess! Thank you so much for this recipe! Also, I added some extra graham crumbs on top for more crunchiness!"
"Delicious and easy to make. I agree with the creme being hard to spread, I would use mini marshmallows the next time. I used mini chocolate chips and cinnamon graham crackers and wow, what a hit!!"
"I made these with cinnamon graham crackers and miniture marshmallows - turned out great - took them to my grandson's graduation party (doubled the batch) came home with a empty pan! a keeper"
"These bars are fabulous!! We love them! I even make them in an 8x8 pan so they are a little thicker. They are out of this world!"
"I made this for a 'Scentsy' party one time and all the guests LOVED it! This is my most requested recipe from my friends. I is always requesed a all our family get togethers too! Love it!!!!"
"The family gobbled these up!!! I used more of the marshmallow creme as one cup didn't seem to be enough and also because it was hard to spread. Very messy/sticky but totally worth it!"
"Sticky sweet and gooey, just like a smore should be. I use the entire container of marshmallow creme and, and I've used chocolate chips instead of candy bars, and they work just as well. The kids just love these!"
"The S'more Bars were wonderful! I brought them to a couple of potlucks and they were a huge hit! I used the entire container of marshmallow creme instead of just 1 cup. It worked out fine this way. Definitely make these again and again."
"These were really yummy!I've already shared the recipe with my Mom. I used a generous cup of mini-marshmallows rather than the creme and they worked fine. I took these to work and the didn't survive the morning! Definitely a keeper."
"A little sweet, but so good! Already passed the recipe on to a friend who tried and loved them."
"These bars were super yummy, my family and I loved them. I will be making these again!"
"These are very rich, so cut them into small bars. Also, you will want to sit down and eat these with a fork instead of your hands--very messy! The kids at the family gathering I brought these to loved them--the adults were a little lukewarm."
"These were great. I ended up making the marshmallow creme with marshmallows and corn syrup. Definitely a do over!!!"
"YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY"
