Reviews for Quick Tater Tot Bake
"Used Sharir7209's "tweaks" - the golden mushroom soup and cream of celery soup made it very flavorful. Great easy comfort food for a cold winter night!"
"I have been looking for a tater tot casserole recipe and found this. Gave it a try and was a little disappointed. I followed the recipe except put the cheese on during the last 15-20 minutes of cooking. It wasn't bad but it seemed like something was missing. Had it the next day as leftover and thought it was better than out of oven."
"We have had a much loved similar recipe for years (we = my sister found it, shared it with me). The only part we cannot remember is the actual name and origin of the recipe! Our "Tater Tot Casserole Bake Thingy" is similar, but the serving count is larger, we use 32 oz. bag of tater tots and closer to 2lbs of ground beef, but that's due to the number of people eating. The real difference is, we use 2 different soups - Golden Mushroom and Cream of Celery; adding one "can full" of milk, so 2:1 ratio soup to milk. We don't add the cheese topping until last 15 minutes of baking time...and then put a dish of sour cream on the side for everyone to add a big spoonful to the top of their portion. This is one of our favorite easy-peasy weeknight/rainy-cold night/comfort food suppers."
"so easy and tasty, quick as a snap to make and easy to make larger amounts"
"I adjusted this a bit to accommodate what I had on hand. In a skillet I cooked carrots and cut up pearl onions. Then I added in minced garlic clove and 1 cup of cooked beef tenderloin from a previous meal, cooking until the carrots were tender. I followed the rest of the directions as written. What a dish, my kids loved it."
"My family loves it! I found this recipe when searching for easy meals to prepare following surgery. Not only is this simple to make, it's better than the traditional tater tot casserole. I have used cheddar cheese and cream of chicken in place of the cream of mushroom. Both are great."
"I used cream of celery soup and it was good for a quick supper when I didn't feel like cooking."
"This was okay, but nothing fancy. I'm sure it'd be a big hit with children, though! It is certainly easy to make, and if you have the ingredients on hand, it's quick and hearty fare. I thought it could have used a bit more in the flavor department, but as I said, it wasn't bad."
"This is a kid apprved meal, my grandaughter even had it the next day for breakfast."
"This was a thumbs up from all the family"
"This was super quick, easy and tasty. I love that!"
"This is a wonderful recipe! I've tried it with the cream of mushroom, which is great-but I've also switched it up and tried it with cream of chicken. It sounds strange, but I actually love the flavor of the cream of chicken the most. Absolutely amazing!"
"This was so good. Didnt have cream of mushroom, so i used golden mushroom soup. Also added fresh spinach in to make it a little healthy. Kids couldnt even taste it. Im gonna make again in a few days!"
"Wow! How can something so easy be so good?! I doubled the recipe, partially thawed the tater tots, and baked it for 1 hour, with adding the cheese after the first 15 minutes of baking. Yum! -Lori in WI."
"Tooo easy! I used ground turkey and cream of chicken soup...also added in some garlic too! Used a mix of sharp chedder, swiss and colby cheeses...kids really enjoyed this!"
"I use the cheese soup from Campbells instead of the cream of mushroom. I don't add cheese to the top either. Fewer calories w/ the same great taste."
"This is easy to make and delicious! I substitute Soy Beef Crumbles (Morningstar Farms or Boca makes them) to make it vegetarian, and I sprinkle chili powder on top of the tots before I put the cheese on for a kick. Delish!"
