  • 1-1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons beef bouillon granules
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 5 cups milk
  • Baked potatoes

  1. In a Dutch oven, cook beef and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the flour, bouillon, salt and pepper. Gradually add milk; bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve over potatoes. Yield: 7 cups.

"I was looking for the 80's cafeteria hamburger gravy. This one is close. Mine wouldn't thicken so I added cornstarch...a tsp at a time and stirred like crazy. Kinda thought worseshire would add flavor. I was out so threw in a few splashes of liquid smoke. This was delicious! Will make again!!"

"A great, quick meal. My husband always talked about hamburger gravy, I had never had it before. Most recipes I have looked at use mushroom soup, my son and I don't like mushroom soup. I happened upon this and it was an instant hit. It is in my rotation now and always a hit with the family!"
