Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 cups cold cooked rice
  • 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

344 calories: 3/4 cup, 13g fat (8g saturated fat), 84mg cholesterol, 592mg sodium, 48g carbohydrate (3g sugars, 1g fiber), 7g protein .

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in the rice, teriyaki sauce, parsley, garlic powder and pepper. Cook over medium-low heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the egg; cook and stir until egg is completely set, about 3 minutes. Yield: 4 servings.

"We weren't impressed by this. I used soy sauce like some of the other reviewers. The taste was just ok. If I try this again, I'd definitely do the teriyaki. However there are plenty of other easy fried rice recipes out there, I think I'd try those other ones first. Just meh."

"I use 3 eggs that I scramble after pushing vegetables and rice to the side of the pan. I use canola(1/4 Cup) and Sesame oil (2Tbsp) instead of butter it makes a huge difference. I add 1 package frozen, mixed vegetables or peas and carrots. I cook the rice in the microwave 1 cup rice 2 cups water or broth and 12 minutes. Rice is perfect every time."

"Great "fast" meal to prepare and reheat. Our kids love this dish. Added chicken this first go around and then will try shrimp and pork. I too used soy sauce instead of the teriyaki."

"I used soy sauce as well instead of teriyaki sauce and substituted onion powder for onions. I also added an over easy egg to a serving and mixed it. So good and tasty!"
