I was trying to impress my boyfriend with my cooking, so I made this meaty, deep-dish pizza. I think it worked. Here we are 17 years later, and I still make it for our family at least once a month, if not more! —Stacey White, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina

Quick & Easy Deep-Dish Pizza Tips

What makes Chicago deep-dish pizza different?

In addition to this deep-dish style, lots of Chicago-style pizzerias make pies with two layers of pizza crust, with the cheese and fillings in between and sauce on top. Read more with our ultimate guide to regional pizzas.

Why is my deep-dish pizza watery?

The moisture in tomato sauce can seep through the crust. To prevent this, try layering cheese directly onto the crust before the sauce. The fat in cheese should keep excess moisture away from the crust. If you want to make your own dough, try a classic deep-dish recipe.

How do you get deep-dish pizza out of the pan?

Use a large spatula to remove the pizza to a cooling rack. Cool for 5-10 minutes before cutting, and only cut as many slices as you need ready to serve. For a little extra help, try baking your deep dish in a springform pan to easily lift away the pan's sides.
