Pixie Dust Cookies

These crisp and buttery cookies are based on a favorite Scottish shortbread recipe. They're just the right amount of sweet—and fun to decorate! —Peggy Goodrich, Enid, Oklahoma
Ingredients

3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter, softened

1/4 cup sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

Pearl dust
Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Gradually beat in flour (dough will be crumbly). Shape into a ball.

On a lightly floured surface, press dough to 1/2-in. thickness. Cut with a floured 1-in. diamond-shaped cookie cutter. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with pearl dust. Bake 12-15 minutes or until firm. Cool on pans 2 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
