Parmesan Walnut Bread

 Parmesan Walnut Bread
Parmesan cheese and crunchy walnuts flavor this tender golden loaf sent in by Cindy Hudson of Crawfordsville, Indiana. "It's one of my all-time favorite breads," she remarks.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1-3/4 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients. In another
  • bowl, beat the egg, milk and oil until smooth. Stir into dry
  • ingredients just until moistened. Fold in the nuts. Pour into a
  • greased 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 50-60 minutes
  • or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool
  • for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. Yield: 1
  • loaf.
