Reviews for Pancake Syrup
"Great simple recipe! I cut the ingredients in half because I didn't need a lot, I didn't have maple flavoring, so I added a sprinkle of cinnamon, it turned out amazing!"
"We used to make syrup like this when I was a kid, except we rarely had brown sugar, so we used just white sugar. Going to try using less water like krysfielder, becauseI'm looking for a thicker syrup. Exactly the idea I had in mind anyway, just needed a second opinion. :-)"
"Does anyone know how long this keeps in the fridge?"
"Delicious syrup! Way cheaper than store bought too. I did lower the amount of water to 1/2 cup to make it thicker. I am going to try different flavor extracts to get different flavor syrups next."
"My mom made a recipe like this for years. She used sugar, water and Mapleine. I gave it four stars because I prefer real maple syrup. We had friends that used to tap maple trees for the syrup.Bonjour Bahchicherif! 1 cup packed brown sugar = 220 grams, 1 cup sugar white granulated sugar water = 201 grams, and 1 cup water = 237 grams. Or simply use equal volumes of brown sugar, sugar and water. 1 teaspoon maple flavoring (or extract) = 5 grams. Other recipes use as much as 1 tablespoon (15 grams or milliliters) of the maple flavoring.Note: In the US, cups are standard units of measure in the home, and grams or milliliters are used in laboratory."
"NICE RECIPE!!!VERY HELFUL INSTEAD OF BUYING A NEW BOTTLE OF MAPLE SYRP PER HALF MONTH WE CAN MAKE THIS. I USE VANILLA ESSENCE INSTEAD OF MAPLE OR VANILLA EXTRACT BUT THAT TO WORKS A LOT....YEEH!"
"Bonjour je vous remercie de m'avoir inscrit sur votre site que je trouve tr?s chaleureux j'ai une question es_que vous pouvez me donner l'?quivalent du sucre et l'eau en gramme merci."
"This was one of the first recipes my husband wanted me to get from his Mom when we were first married many years ago. She insisted Mapline was the only maple flavoring to use.Although I prefer real maple syrup, this is much cheaper and more convenient, and a very good substitute."
"Great recipe. So easy and tastes far much better than the bottled syrup. Of course it is made of a lot of sugar but you don't have the preservatives and colors added like in the commercially made product. Thickens nicely when cooled a bit. I've been using a combination of butter and vanilla flavorings. My husband eats toaster waffles every day for breakfast and I have been making this syrup for him (2 batches now) and he says to "never buy that bottled stuff again"!! This is a keeper!!"
"Because I like my syrup thick, I took some advice from previous reviewers and cut the water to 3/4 cup and cooked it for a while! It is SO delicious!!! I don't plan on buying syrup ever again! I also used vanilla because I didn't have maple extract and added a pinch of salt to cut the sweetness a bit. (It thickens even more when it cools down)"
"Such a simple, quick, & tasty substitute! Thank you! We prefer our syrup a bit thicker so I used only 3/4 C. water and cooked for a minute longer. I had no maple flavoring so I swapped it for pure vanilla and its just as flavorful."
"we made this syrup and we used rum extract and it turned out great"
"I only gave it 4 stars because my family prefers a thicker syrup. I used Rum extract and it was delicious."
"I made it because I was out of bottled syrup, but I'll probably never buy syrup again. It tasted delicious and was simple to make."
"I make maple syrup I like better. 2 cups white sugar. Add to 1 cup of boiling water.Cook until all sugar is disolved. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of MAPLEINE. My family was using this before I was born and I am 83."
"easy, quick and fun! I add 1 1/2 cups of water instead-tastes the same. new family favorite!!!!! we will put in jars for xmas gifts along with pancake mix and a little wooden spoon! how cute!"
"so easy and good. I didn't have maple extract, so used vanilla... still very good. I may never buy store bought again :D"
"Simple and easy and any extract can be added! Pure no alcohol vanilla extract is what I used and worked great!"
"I added butter to mine to give it a buttery flavor. SO yummy on Cinnamon pancakes!"
"I usedd this recipe for years for my family also. It was lovely to see it here. I alternated with Sugar Twin brown and white sugar when I was dieting. My children didn't realize the difference. I usually used a little regular sugar to help with the consistency They loved the hot homemade syrup!"
"My family loved the homemade syrup. I am glad to be able to make it when I need to."
"Kids love this better then the suff you buy at the store. I have to triple the recipe for my family of 5..Love it!!"
