Our home economists mixed up this heartwarming delight. Graham crackers and cinnamon make a golden topping over warm pears that are combined with orange juice for the fun twist on a classic dessert.

  • 4 medium ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Sugar substitute equivalent to 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • 3 whole reduced-fat graham crackers, crushed
  • Sugar substitute equivalent to 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons reduced-fat butter, melted


  • In a large bowl, combine the pears, flour, sugar substitute, orange
  • juice and orange peel. Spoon into an 8-in. square dish coated with
  • cooking spray.
  • In a small bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar substitute,
  • flour and cinnamon; stir in butter. Sprinkle over pear mixture. Bake
  • at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until topping is crisp and lightly
  • browned. Serve warm. Yield: 6 servings.
