Orange French Toast Recipe
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 6 slices day-old bread
- 1. In a bowl, combine eggs, buttermilk, sugar, orange peel, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Soak bread for 2 minutes per side. Cook on a greased hot griddle until golden brown on both sides and cooked through. Yield: 2-4 servings.
1 serving (1 each) equals 179 calories, 4 g fat (1 g saturated fat), 109 mg cholesterol, 450 mg sodium, 26 g carbohydrate, 1 g fiber, 8 g protein.
