Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (70° to 80°)
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast

Directions

  1. In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available.
  2. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed). Yield: 1 loaf (2 pounds, 20 slices).

"Loved this. Made for a bake sale and was a real winner. I didn't bake it in bread machine however as I wanted to braid it just used that for the dough. I did this and then baked it in the oven turned out beautiful!"

"I'm not a fan of molasses, so I substituted honey instead. This bread is our favorite. Moist, flavorful and a great texture. My husband absolutely loves it!"
