Monster Cookies Recipe
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1-1/4 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup M&M's
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup salted peanuts
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1. In a large bowl, cream peanut butter, butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add baking soda and vanilla. Add oats, M&M's, butterscotch chips and peanuts; let stand for 10 minutes. Stir in flour (the dough will be crumbly).
- 2. Shape 1/4 cupfuls into balls. Place on greased baking sheets, about nine cookies on each sheet. Gently flatten cookies. Bake at 325° for 15-18 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks. Yield: about 2-1/2 dozen.
1 serving (2 each) equals 636 calories, 30 g fat (13 g saturated fat), 62 mg cholesterol, 392 mg sodium, 81 g carbohydrate, 5 g fiber, 14 g protein.

"These cookies were horrible. I could not find my Monster cookies recipe and I knew a Taste of Home recipe would be good. The cookies were so dry and crumbly before and after baking. This was an expensive waste of ingredients. I'm still trying to figure out how to salvage the rest of the dough."

"Yum! I stumbled on this trying to find a recipe with M&Ms. I'm glad I did. I didn't use butterscotch chips or nuts, but substituted semi-sweet chips and increased the M&Ms by about a 1/4 cup. I really flattened mine as much as possible so they would bake up a little crisper and they fall apart a bit, but once flattened, you can reassemble to make them look good. I'll use this one for bake sales or cookie exchanges anytime!"
"I made these cookies for my boyfriend to take with him before he left to go hunting one day. He loved them and was nice enough to share with his brothers and friends! (I snuck 1 or two to keep home for myself!) The boys raved about these cookies and asked me to send more the next day. I used semi-sweet chocolate chips in place of the butterscotch chips and they tasted wonderful. These are also good to have for an on-the-go breakfast! They're very dense so they really fill you up. I'll make these again SOON for sure! THIS RECIPE IS A KEEPER!"
