Reviews for Melt-in-Your-Mouth Meat Loaf
"At 70 years of age this was the best meatloaf I have ever cooked. I did add some ingredients. I left out the dried minced onion and aded about 1/4 to 1/2 cup cup each of minced fresh onion and green bell pepper. I also added a minced fresh garlic pod and 1/2 tsp of black pepper. Instead of regular bread crumbs I use seasoned dressing. After reading the reviews I too decided to cook my meatloaf in a convection oven for 1 hour. The topping was so delicious I made a double batch for the table and for leftovers. This was even better the second day. My boyfriend is 74 and by far this was the best he has ever eaten."
"I am always searching for the "perfect" meatloaf and now I have found it. Made this for dinner the other night and my hubbie loved it, as did I. He said that it is his favorite of all the recipes I have tried through the years. I stayed with the ingredients however, I didn't use the crockpot but instead cooked it at 350 in my convection oven for about an hour. I especially liked the fact that it did not fall apart. Definitely a keeper for us and has been filed away in "My Favorites"."
"I have been looking for a recipe for meatloaf for 50 years. That's how long we have been married and this is the best meatloaf we have ever tasted. And we have tried every recipe and restaurant around. I highly recommend it . The only thing I did different was not add mushrooms and used a regular onion grated. It was delicious."
"Was soo good -my husband and thought it was the best meatloaf we've had-just make sure you set it on low -I made that mistake the first time-my stupid crockpot has 4,6,8,10timer-I guess I was a little stupid myself for not putting it on low for 5-6 hrs."
"This meatloaf is literally one of the BEST I've ever tasted. I absolutely love that I can cook it in the crockpot- nothing like coming home from a long days work to the smell of a home cooked meal! I was hesitant on the ketchup sauce topping because of my former experiences with ketchup topped meatloaf but can I just say that it completed the taste and it was exceptional. I did want to prepare a few loaves to freeze and cook later but I don't think I can because of the egg and milk in the recipe - I've read that they separate once frozen. If anyone has info on this that would be great!"
"Outstanding. Changed a few things. Definitely add green pepper & onion."
"I have made this meatloaf several times.. I add chopped onion, chopped green pepper to it and it is delicious! I make it with or without the sauce, When making without the sauce, I make gravy and mashed potatoes, when making the sauce I make twice the sauce and serve it with scalloped potatoes."
"First-rate! I added additional onions both in the meatloaf & around it. Easy prep makes this a dish I will favor. I grew up on baked, dry meatloaf until my brother came home with a new recipe for meatloaf that included liquid (milk) to make it more moist. My mom ditched her dry meat loaf recipe after that & we found a few other recipes along the way."
"This is a one sad dish. I have never made nor eaten anything so disgusting in my time of cooking. There was no taste, no spice, no nothing. The dried minced onions do little for the recipe toward enhancing the flavour. I suggest some real onions as a substitute and maybe some shredded carrots for colour. Actually, I'd remove this recipe from you list. This is NOT a crockpot meal, full stop. I wasted a lot of money buying top mince to make this and the dish was a failure. I am glad we did not have guest for this meal."
"I have to give this only 3 stars because the texture was way too moist for me. The flavor was fantastic, but I couldn't stomach the wetness of this meatloaf. I will make this again but adjust the liquid ingredients for sure."
"Made this yesterday and both my husband and I really enjoyed it. I did take a reviewer's suggestion and used a package of onion soup mix as I didn't have the minced onion and sage and that gave it a nice flavor."
"yes you can use ground turkey. I use the 97% lean Shad Brook Farms ground turkey breast. Put the sauce ingredients on the bottom and cook for 3 hours on high. Perfect EVERY time.... Bonus is I don't have to turn on my stove :-)"
"Quick, easy and delicious! I am a crockpot queen so this recipe absolutely rocks. I will only fix it this way from now on. Love, love, love it and so does every member of my family!"
"Bland, boring, and tasteless"
"Suzanne my husband would not eat meat loaf. Made your recipe, he ate and says this is the best. Wow Thanks to You!!! And I agree. Very moist and the sauce is great! Thank you for sharing."
"more a comment if you put the sauce ingredients on the bottom of your dish then put meat mix on top you have a self saucing loaf that is even more moist and delish just turn it out onto a plate the bottom of your loaf becomes the sauced top"
"Will try this with the beef, but has anyone tried it with chicken or turkey."
"Delicious! Very simple & convenient to make..My husband & I love this tasty meatloaf.."
"I always use a 1st time recipe and then adjust according to my taste the second time. This one is a keeper w/o ANY changes whatsoever. Thanks so much for sharing."
"Finally a meatloaf recipe my whole family loves!"
"Flavorful and moist. I changed it a little bit. I used prepared mustard and deleted the sage. Its a keeper for sure and very easy and a go to meal when I don't know what I want to make and don't have a lot of time...."
"Very flavorful and moist. My family loves meatloaf. This one has a nice flavor and a bit of tang. The only thing I changed was I added a little regular mustard vs dry and I deleted the sage."
"can i sub turkey meat for beef?? will the time be the same??"
"best meatloaf ever!!!! i only make this recipe now that i've found it and my hole family looks forward to it!!"
"This was very good and easy to make. My only complaint was that it was so moist before cooking that it didn't hold the loaf shape very well in the crockpot and flattened out quite a bit. It still tasted great and had great texture. The end result was still a very firm loaf, despite how moist it was before cooking."
"Great meatloaf! I love that it's so moist and actually has a flavor. And talk about easy!! I popped it in before I went to work and it was done when I came home. Next time i'll double the finishing sauce to have some extra on the side. Definitely a keeper"
"We enjoyed this recipe... I don't even think I'll change anything next time we make it. Thanks for the great option for dinner!"
"Fantastic way to make meatloaf! Excellent recipe."
"Have made this several times, super easy way to make meatloaf. I suggest using a tin foil "sling" to make it easier to lift it out of the crockpot. Fold foil into 2 strips, and crisscross in the pot before adding the meat."
"This has become my husband's favorite meatloaf. Even better than his mom's! :) Instead of dehydrated onions and sage I use a packet of onion soup mix. So good!"
"This is my husband's favorite meatloaf. Instead of minced onions and sage I used a packet of onion soup mix."
"This is my second try at this recipe; for my husband and me it's ok but it is one my children will eat therefore, this becomes a staple until they leave home and we can go back to ones we prefer. I'm also trying different fat levels of hamburger since too much grease makes me very sick...I was nervous about cooking this in the crock pot but so far so good....."
"We always make extra sauce for leftovers. The flavor is perfect!"
"I usually make meatloaf up as I go, but put this in my box as a place markers for meal planning. My family LOVED it. I've never put sage in it and the topping was really good. Will definitely make this again."
"I will never make meatloaf in the oven again! This was so moist and flavorful and the sauce complimented it nicely."

"Made this recipe for my family. They absolutely loved it and it was easy and convenient cooking it in the slow-cooker."
"This is amazing! I actually mix half ground meat and half ground sausage and it is a household favorite"
"We loved this meatloaf.I'm always trying a different one.I got rave reviews even from my grandchildren who are very picky. The topping was alittle too sweet for us, so I will probably cut back on the ketchup and sugar next time. I will be making this agan."
"This recipe is fabulous, as great as it is the first day it gets even better on day two!"
"Best meat loaf ever! and it was so easy. All you do it throw it together and it cooks it's self all day. Next time I am going to add some red pepper flakes to spice it up a tad."
"This is the best meat loaf we've ever had! I too, substituted oatmeal for the bread crumbs. I added some Mrs. Dash seasoning."
"I made this recipe last nite and my husband loved it. super easy to make and moist and tasty"
"Excellent! The only change I made is I used oatmeal instead of breadcrumbs. I have been using oatmeal since my husband suffered a heart attack. Got that suggestion from the american heart association. My family had no idea of the switch and it's healthier for you."
"This is a very good meatload recipe! I never thought to make meatloaf in the slow cooker before, but I am sure glad I tried this! Made the house smell wonderful, it was so easy and quick to throw together and came out perfect! Hubby liked it too as well as our very picky 2 year old daughter who didn't leave a single crumb on her plate! I loved that while slicing it, it didn't crumble or fall apart either!"
"Best meatloaf ever"
"VERY YUMMY I ALSO PUT THIS IN OVEN HOWEVER. AND OMIITED THE DRY MUSTARD WAS VERY YUMMY"
"This is the only meat loaf my kids will eat. We substituted 1/2 lb of sausage for the 1/2 lb of ground beef."
"It was very good but I cooked it on high for 6 hours. I don't think it would have been done on a low setting."
"This has become my fav meatloaf recipe. Texture is perfect for sandwiches the next day and since it uses dried onions, my daughter has no clue they're there! :P"
"This is the best meatloaf I have ever eaten! My family agrees. It is great leftover--if you can keep any."
"This is the best meat loaf recipe ever. My kids ask for this all the time, and I make it once a week. Easy, fast, and never any left overs. fantastic"
"This recipe was especially nice because I could spend a few moments in the morning preparing it for the crockpot, then forgetting about it until dinner time. Works especially nice on days when you will be away from home with no time to prep. a meal. Served with some mashed potatoes (real or instant), and a frozen veggie, makes for a very nice meal."
"I made this last night and it was a huge hit. I did not use a slow cooker. I baked it in a 350 degree oven for an hour. I have been looking for a new meat loaf recipe and am glad I tried this one. I will definitely make this again."
"my husband said this was the best meatloaf I had ever made, though I am not a fan of using a slow cooker for ground beef, so I baked this in the oven at 350 for 90 minutes adding the glaze the last 15 minutes of cooking time"
"I made this the first time in appeared in Quick Cooking and my family will no longer eat baked meatloaf. The only thing I did to change the recipe is to add Worcestshire sauce to the meat mixture as well."
"We really enjoy this recipe--especially with the barbecue sauce on top."
"Easy and all my family loves it."
"Excellent meatloaf recipe; turned out even better than I expected! Will make again soon!"
"Should have taken Sweet Em's advice: The meat itself was just okay. Flat and a bit salty. Couldn't eat it without the ketchup mixture. And the ketchup mixture is the part I'll prepare again - but it is sweet, for those not prepared!"
"This was ok, not a lot going on in the flavor department. Easy to make, used half ground turkey, half beef. I thought the sauce was the best part, my husband did not like it. My dog loved it, but he thinks I'm the best cook in the world."
"I prepared this ahead of time, put in a storage bag, popped it in the cooler and brought it to our mountain home to make for guests the next day. They loved it! I loved the convenience. Will prepare this ahead of time for traveling in our motorhome."
"Great recipe but I too was worried about it cooking in a crockpot. Kids loved it!"
"I always thought it was unsafe to cook raw ground meats in a crock pot since the meat stayed in the range where bacteria grows for too long a period. Is this not true?Kruizer"
"This is one of my favorite recipes. My husband and I both love it!"
"My grandkids even like this recipe!"
"This is the first recipe thatI used with slow cooker!!It is very easy to make!Me andmy husband just loved it!"
"This recipe is amazing! I adapted it a little though. I did not use the worchester sauce and I baked it at 350 for about an hour and did not add the sauce till 15-20 before the end of the baking time.Thank you so much for sharing!"
