My family HATES pork chops. I had to listen to my 13 year old daughter complain all day about whyyyy did I choose pork?!! Once she tasted it, it was a huge hit with everyone! It tasted a bit like apples and NO pork taste at all! She went back for seconds! For those who said it was bitter, I was generous with the brown sugar layer over the lemon layer so maybe that helped. Delicous!
Mine didn't look at all like this because my pork was so tender that it fell apart and was more like a pulled pork. The sauce was very runny so I spooned some over my pile of pork, but it was a nice complement to the dish. If you don't like a lot of lemon, simply reduce the amount of lemon slices used in the dish and add more brown sugar.
I've made this several times now and my husband and I love it. The sauce is very lemony and I can see why some may not like it. You really have to like lemon. I do double the ketchup and brown sugar and make several layers in my crock pot. I put pork chops in a single layer then sliced onion, lemon and sauce, repeating as necessary for the size of the crock and number of chops. The sauce is a little runny but it's great served over rice, noodles, or even mashed potatoes served alongside the chops. Thanks for sharing the recipe:)
This was terrible. The sauce was bitter and very runny. I had to add twice as much ketchup and brown sugar and then use cornstarch to thicken.
Yes, I would make the Lemon Pork Chops again. It is YUMMY!
