Reviews for Lava Chocolate Cakes
"The instant coffee ruined it. If I were to make it again I'd definitely leave the coffee out. I love coffee but not in this recipe"
"Yummy! I used 1/4 C applesauce instead of butter, and lessened the sugar to 1/2 C. Thanks for sharing!!"
"Out of this world.....rich and delicious! I've made this recipe many times. I top my cakes with fresh, whipped cream."
"Way too much salt."
"Delicious, easy to make. Will fix again."
"I can't believe I have never tried this recipe before! It was so easy to make and tasted delicious!!! I wanted a special dessert for Valentine's Day and this was definately the perfect choice! My husband loved it and it looked so nice on the plate I served it on. To make it look like Valentines, I served it on my red temptations plate garnished with fanned out strawberries and vanilla ice cream. I dusted more confectionery sugar over the top of the cake. I left the coffee out and used 3/4 c. dark chocolate chips, I will definately be making this again!!!! Oh...everyone commened on serving it warm. We ate it at room temperature and we both thought it would taste great cold! We'll find out tonight when we eat the other two!! :)"
"Will try to double this for a group this eve? Doable?"
"Outstanding recipe! What a special dessert! Everyone from our 2 year old grandson to my chocolate-loving husband (their grandpa) declared this their favorite dessert ever! We ended our Christmas Eve celebration with this treat and it was the perfect ending to a very special meal. I topped the warm cakes with their lovely chocolate centers with vanilla bean ice cream and we were all in chocolate heaven!"
"I was craving something gooey, chocolatey, and warm, and this was just what I needed. It was absolutely delicious! For those who don't like coffee, you really can't taste it. Coffee deepens the flavor of chocolate rather than distracting from it. I will definitely make these again and again."
"I didn't think that such a special dessert would be so quick and easy to make. My family enjoyed this on Valentine's Day. The centers were more runny than I expected - should I have baked it a little longer?"
"Easy and delicious. Next time, i will bake it for 1-2 minutes less so that it is more gooey in the middle."
"Delicious! Tricky to get the timing right. Easy to half, and can be made quickly."
"This was so yummy!!! The best chocolate lava cake i have ever had!!!"
"This was awesome! I didn't change a thing about this recipe. Perfect!"
"Had to bake longer than 12 minutes because the centers were not temping to 160 degrees. I made 2 batches because my son is allergic to dairy...the ones made with real butter had the oozing center (not as much as the picture though) and the ones made with non-dairy buttery spread and Ghiradelli chocolate chips did not have any...it had all cooked into the cake. Still, it was very good and my family said that I should make it again."
"Although I gave this recipe a high rating, I was disappointed in the flavor as it is written. I plan to make this again, omitting the salt, and expect it will be fantastic! It was very good except for a salty taste. I did bake for about 3 extra minutes."
"These are excellent. I have the ones I made pictured on my page. They came out perfect. The middle is like oozing hot brownie batter. I understand that some people are not fans of coffee so they omit it. That's fine of course however for me the instant coffee granules enhance the taste of the chocolate. You can not taste the coffee at all.
"Absolutely awesome. Made it for my wife and she loved it!"
"Delicious and simple dessert. I worry about the gooey center and having egg in the batter. Is this safe to eat?"
"Quick, easy and delicious."
"wonderful dessert. Made exactly as written and baked in muffin tins. This recipe made 7 cakes and baked just a directed...very good!"
"This is so good!"
"Very yummy and incredibly rich"
"Wow! I also left the coffee out of this recipe and it was absolutely wonderful! If you like chocolate, you will love this. I was shocked how easy it was to make and how fancy it seemed to everyone."
"Simply wonderful! I made them in a muffin pan and reduced the time slightly. Worked like a charm. While you HAVE to serve these cakes warm, I was able to re-heat the extras for 30 seconds in the microwave. The lava was not quite the same as the day before, they were still very good."
"This was the first time I have ever attempted to make this dessert. I have had it at some restaurants. This was a text book recipe. It came out looking and tasting absolutely wonderful. Made it for my honey on Valentines Day."
"VERY GOOD! I WAS GOING TO LEAVE OUT THE COFFEE, GLAD I DIDN'T. VERY EASY TO MAKE. WILL DEFINITELY MAKE AGAIN, AND AGAIN!! MAY TAKE A LITTLE PRACTICE AS NOT TO OVER BAKE AND TO GET OUT OF THE DISH, BUT WELL WORTH THE EFFORT! I DIDN'T HAVE RAMEKINS SO I USED A MUFFIN PAN (STONE WARE). JUST THE RIGHT SIZE, IF YOUR WATCHING YOUR WAIST LINE! IV'E BEEN WANTING TO MAKE THESE AND THIS ONE IS IT, THANKS!!!"
"Absolutely delish and not too sweet. I baked mine a few minutes longer than the recipe as the sides were not set up at 12 mins. A real treat!"
"OMG!! This was so great. We love coffee and Chocolate. Together - WOW !"
"Awesome, but don't put in all the coffee. Use 1/2 as much if you still want the flavor."
"So wonderful! I'll make these over and over. They're even tasty leftover, I just pop them in the microwave to warm them up a little."
"This dessert is amazing! I had to laugh after reading through the description again after we ate it because it says "you'll want to lick the plate clean," which my husband did! :)"
"I left out the coffee. My whole family loved it the way it was -- just chocolate :)"
"This was SO delicious! But I wonder if there's a way to lighten it up a bit. There is SO much butter and egg!"
"Very rich, but yummy! I used my glass custard dishes and they were perfect. Very easy too."
"I cannot wait to try this one! Looks easy enough."
"Loved them! Easy to make."
"This is the best cake I have ever eaten. We LOVE it. If you don't like coffee don't use it. ACE"
"Do I HAVE TO the instant coffee granules? I don't care for the taste. Do they have a purpose other than flavor? Thanks!=)"
