This glaze is my favorite way to really spark a baked ham. We harvest horseradish (a member of the mustard family) from our fields every year. This leftovers make great sandwiches with horseradish, of course!—Cathy & Monte Seus, Tulelake, California

Ingredients

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (5 to 6 pounds)
  • Whole cloves
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup prepared horseradish
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

Nutritional Facts

4 ounces cooked ham: 232 calories, 5g fat (2g saturated fat), 83mg cholesterol, 1026mg sodium, 20g carbohydrate (19g sugars, 0 fiber), 28g protein.

Directions

  1. Using a sharp knife, score surface of ham with 1/4-in. deep cuts in a diamond pattern; insert a clove in each diamond. Bake according to package directions.
  2. Meanwhile, mix remaining ingredients. Brush over ham during the last 30 minutes of cooking. Yield: 12 servings.
