Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • Pinch salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Apple wedges

Nutritional Facts

2 tablespoons equals 211 calories, 20 g fat (2 g saturated fat), 0 cholesterol, 25 mg sodium, 8 g carbohydrate, 1 g fiber, 3 g protein.

Directions

  1. Place walnuts and salt in a food processor. Cover and process until nuts are finely ground.
  2. Add oil and honey; cover and process until mixture forms a smooth paste. Chill until serving. Serve with apple wedges. Yield: 3/4 cup.
Editor's Note: To toast nuts, bake in a shallow pan in a 350° oven for 5-10 minutes or cook in a skillet over low heat until lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
