  • 6 vanilla beans, split lengthwise
  • 2 cups vodka

Directions

  1. Place vanilla beans in a tall jar; cover with vodka. Seal jar tightly. Let stand in a cool dark place at least 6 weeks, gently shaking jar once a week. Yield: 2 cups.

"I do this every year for Christmas gifts, but I did find that you have to cut the beans in order to get the full flavor. What a difference in what you buy in the story. Even "Real" vanilla is watered down."
