I just made this and it was perfect. I followed recipe exact except I lowered sugar to 3/4 cup, and I added a tad but more of corn starch and I added an egg yolk. I used a wire whisk the entire time. Creamy, nice, thick chocolatey pudding! Thank you!
I don't know why there's so many negative reviews! I made this for my lactose intolerant son, changing the milk for his lactose free milk and the butter for his margarine we use and it's delicious! He's ecstatic to be able to take pudding to school! This is the 3rd recipe I've tried and the only one that's turned out. I increased the cornstarch by a dash to ensure it was nice and thick and it's perfect. Followed the directions to a tee and be prepared to whisk your arm tired and it will turn out great! Thanks for posting!!
I just made this recipe tonight by the directions above and it is delish!.... My chocoholic will be in heaven... :)
This was a little too sweet - I'll probably cut the sugar back to 2/3 cup next time. Other than that, it was delicious! No problem at all with it setting up when following the directions as written.
Easy to make and so tasty. I'm just about to try the recipe again without the butter and vanilla to see if it's good enough to package the dry ingredients in decorated mason jars with attached directions as gifts for the teachers and coaches this Christmas. I don't know why some reviewers had trouble with the pudding setting, but I wouldn't blame the recipe. Definitely not an issue any of the times we've used this recipe.
