Home-Style White Bread Recipe
I often serve this bread with meals because I can use my bread machine to make it. It is a real time saver when I know I will have a busy day. I can assemble the ingredients in the morning, set the timer and come home to a fresh loaf for supper.—Yvonne Nave, Lyons, Kansas
TOTAL TIME: Prep: 5 min. Bake: 3 hours + cooling YIELD:16 servings
- 1 cup water (70° to 80°)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
- 3 cups bread flour
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1. In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed). Yield: 1 loaf (about 1-1/2 pounds, 16 slices).
