When the weather starts turning cooler, I start to hear requests for this dish. The light soy, onion and garlic flavors blend nicely with fresh carrots and potatoes in this budget-minded recipe.—Pat Jensen, Cottonwood, Minnesota

"We had this absolutely delicious dish tonight. A definite 5 stars. We loved it and it is already in our dinner rotation menu. After reading the reviews, I added some chopped red pepper but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. The flavor is outstanding. I highly recommend this recipe as a Volunteer Field Editor."

"I doubled the garlic, soy sauce, and rice. I used converted rice because I wanted the grains to remain separated and cut down on the starchiness. I added celery and crushed red pepper flakes, substituting seasoned salt for regular salt. The result is like a better version of Hamburger Helper."

"YUMMY! I used ground turkey. Also, I substituted celery for 1/2 of the onion and used chicken stock instead of water. I tried instant brown rice and it worked well, I just had to shorten the cooking time."

"Very good. I used ground lamb cause my husband does not like ground beef. I also added red pepper i had on hand. We added a little more salt and pepper. Will make again"

"We really liked this but for us, the rice didn't get cooked very well. The recipe is still a keeper."

"My family really likes this recipe. I added a half packet of onion soup mix when I was browning the hamburger (and not quite as much chopped onion) and added some thawed frozen peas. A good stick-to-your ribs meal."

"looks like you could make it any flavor by deleting the soy sauce and adding same amount of barbecue sauce or italian dressing, etc."
